How do i make photos public on Flickr??

Thanks to Yahoo Photos shutting down i've moved my photos to Flickr (which im starting to wish i hadnt done). How on earth do i make my sets public, without having to click into each photo individually?? I'm not impressed at the moment, Flickr isnt exactly user friendly.

Try using the "blog this" feature. If the photo you're looking at has a blog this link above it, you can insert it into your blog, and Flickr automatically provides all the links and crediting. If the link doesn't appear, don't use the image---the owner has limited the rights to it.

Reply:im not an expert on snakes but i know more than most ppl most aussies have some type of knowledge on snakes.and i would have to say(even though the pictures arn't very clear)it does bear a very close resemblance to a whip snake.

What gave you the idea that your Yahoo photos will be deleted? Only your account shall be deleted - but: the official shutdown of Yahoo Photos was September 20th, since some users forgot about the date, YA prolonged the deadline for moving photos until October 18th. Any photos still remaining after the deadline will be lost. Go to this Yahoo help page, there is a link to "What are my options if I want to keep my photos?".

Reply:Go to www.flickr.com and sign in using your yahoo email address and you should have access to your photos. Other than that, I would need more details to figure out why you can't find your pictures.

I'm obviously not the only one sorry to see Photomail go!.


It was great. It's not the same sending pics as attachments, or having friends go to a photo-sharing site/gallery..





I do comic strips/cartoons with my photos and you simply can't do that attaching a bunch of files.





Also with Photomail, you could put the pics in whatever order, whatever size, with whatever comments/captions you wanted.





It was also then automatically available to the recipient as a SLIDE SHOW WITHIN THE EMAIL.





Does FlickR or other program work with Yahoo email that way?? If not, I think more people will switch to GOOGLE's G-MAIL as many of my friends have already done. With the fierce competition between Yahoo and Google etc. I'm a little surprised at this decision.





I hope you can give me some advice as to what would be the closest thing to Yahoo's discontinued Photomail with regard to the features I mentioned.

my family enjoys using flickr to post and share photos among us. I hear that now there is a new Yahoo photos service offered which may be better? Not directly. You should bring them down to your local computer and then put them on yahoo photos.

You have to tell Yahoo to transfer the photos and then it will transfer them to a place of your choosing. Once you transfer them, it will take quite a bit of time until the transfer goes through (usually a week or more). Also, once you transfer them it is permanent. You can't transfer them to Flickr, then change your mind and want them on Photobucket. Yahoo will only transfer them once.
Reply:Good luck....It has been over a week and a half and Yahoo still has not shown any of my flicker photostream. I am not an idiot either... I am a web producer myself and all the parameters are set to show my photostream but Yahoo has some SLOW process problem.

How do I add a feed from flickr to my 360 page?

When asked, I made the mistake of moving all my yahoo pics to shutterfly, and decided Flickr would be a better place for what I use my pics for. I want people looking at my 360 page to be able to go to my albums. I thought I could do that in the RSS feeds, but can't seem to be able to do it or figure it out. What wpild be the best/easiest way to allow people who visit my 360 page to be able to click on a link to see the albums? Also, does anyone have an idea of the easiest way to move my albums from shutterfly to flickr without having to upload all the pics again?

The automatic transfer service was a one time deal. So, you would have to upload all the pics to Flickr again if you start a new free account with that service. You can download the Flickr upload tool though to upload all the pics (or many...if you want to do it set by set) at the same time though. Once you get your Flickr account set up, you must make sure all the pictures are seen by the Public. Then, you can also set up a Flickr photostream on your "Top Page" in 360.


- Click on your 360 "My Page" link at the top


- Click on the "Share Photos" link in your Photos module on the right side


- Scroll down to the Flickr section and follow the instructions there. Make sure that you select "Public" or "Friends" in the "Can be seen by:" dropdown before saving.


NOTE: The photos may not show up immediately - it can take 3 days in many cases. Lastly, there have been problems for people who create new Flickr accounts but use the same Yahoo ID as their Flickr ID. See http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... . So, be careful on how you set up your free Flickr account.





As for setting up an RSS feed to your Flickr pictures, the photostream in the photos module is the best way, but you can set up an RSS feed too (it will just show links to the pictures in the Feeds module):


- Open up a set of your pictures in Flickr. Simply, click on My Photos link when you first log in.


- At the bottom left is an RSS orange button for your pictures. - Click on it and copy the complete URL shown on the browser's web address field.

The default setting is copyright when you upload to Flickr. But they also allow you to put Creative Commons licenses on your photos. So they would follow the rules depending on the license/copyright I do believe.

I take pics off of Flicker by right clicking on the pic. Then save as. Also look to resize it first. I will go to your comp My pictures. And then you can do what you want with them. Works for me.
Reply:You can download the pics back but you may not be able to get full size without upgrading. The ones that you can't see currently will reappear if you upgrade your account or delete the newer photos.

I changed from Yahoo photos to Flickr and was dismayed to find out I could only access my own pictures by paying for them. Does this not interfere with the Data Protection Act in some way, if the property actually belongs to me, then why can I not access it without having to pay for it.

Well, if you uploaded them, you probably still have the file on your computer. But are you saying that you could not even copy it as a file, or send it somewhere else? The paying part, as I understood it, was for prints.





If they have even blocked your copying the file, so that it cannot be used as a backup in case you accidentally lose the one on your hard drive, then I think that's wrong. And yes, I do think it probably violates the law, but I don't know the Data Protection Act myself. You may have to do some research to get specific.





I avoid that kind of research by protesting that a thing is UNFAIR rather than using the term "illegal." That keeps it personal.

I can't help much because all of my responses are different than the other answer you got. I just know that I can't do many things with my 360 now and it seems that every-time yahoo goes newer and better things get really screwed up. But as they say it is Beta, so wait until our "genius" figures it out. In one case I had to wait 6 months, and it still was not complete. Only a partial fix is in place.

To post your profile picture on flickr go to your home page. Hover your cursor over the right side of your profile picture, for now it is the gray dude. A drop down window will appear. You will find what you seek at the bottom of that list.





Your profile picture on 360 is done from "my page". Just look right above the avatar icon there. Most other places you go are similar.
