Question Regarding The Migration From Yahoo Photos To Flickr?

Hi Guys,

My girlfriend has a lot of pictures that she's kept on Yahoo Photos for quite some time now. Because the service is coming to an end, she's being forced to change over to Flickr. She has a bunch of public ones, but also ones of herself and family that are personal and that she'd rather were not visible to the public. She's managed to get all but one of these ones private except for one solitary photo that for some reason has slipped through the net. It is not visible if you go to Flickr, but it does appear as a thumbnail image on her Yahoo 360 page amongst all thepublic ones. Is there a way for it to be deleted from the 360 page without mucking it up on Flickr?

Question Regarding The Migration From Yahoo Photos To Flickr?
She should change the picture to private in Flickr anyway. Then, it will not likely update on 360 right away. She should wait a few days to see if it disappears from view on her 360 and photostream.

If she REALLY needs to delete a photo, she must delete it in Flickr. The change will appear in 360 a day or two later. However, in 360, a picture is not available message will appear in it's place if it's among the thumbnails shown on the Top Page. She would need to add a replacement picture to make that placeholder disappear. Then, again, wait for the 360 to update.

That's the main key: Changes made to the photostream will take a few days to update in 360. So, it's a waiting game whether she makes the photo private or deletes it.

NOTE: She didn't have to move to Flickr. It's just that if she wants to use the photos module on her Top Page, then that's the only service that she can transfer to. If she doesn't care about that module, she could have used the automatic transfer to move the pics to Photobucket.

She can still MANUALLY upload the pictures to a service like Google Picasa or Photobucket, plus anywhere that provides a URL and/or EMBED code for each picture) for use on web pages or blogs. Most of those services have an easy upload tool so that those pics don't need to be uploaded one by one, if she chooses that option at a later date.

I want use my photo in flickr on my 360.blog?
That is true. Sorry, there is no help for this issue at this time. It simply does not work. You can't e-mail Yahoo!360 team about it because they are no longer fixing bugs.

Yahoo has decided to combine it's 3 services (360, Mash, and the regular Yahoo Members Profile) that basically accomplish the same thing (i.e. telling the world about yourself) into one service. They just haven't pinned down the "how" of creating this "universal profile". What other people call "closing", I call "reconstruction."

So, if there are things that you do like about Yahoo! 360 that you would like to see remain in tact, you should state those aspects on the Y!360 team's blog at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 . That is also where you can read about the changes in store for Y!360.

Regarding your pictures, there are other ways to put pictures on your 360, please see my answer here:

How do I upload pictures to flickr?

When Yahoo closed down their My Photos section I had my pictures transferred to flickr. I want to upload some new photos there but can't figure out how to do it. When I go to flickr I don't see an option to upload new photos. Can you give me some easy STEP-BY-STEP directions on how to do this? Thanks.

How do I upload pictures to flickr?
After signing in:

You'll see "You" on the top left corner of the Flickr page.

Click the downward arrow next to "You" and from the list you'll see "Upload Photos."

What technology is Flickr built with?

It seems to be spreading across the web. What platform is Flickr using?

(Linux). Should be Perl/CGI
Reply:Looks like Linux/Apache.

How does something "spread across the web"? Surely it sits in once place, and people converge to it, not the other way around...

Vancouver - Even though it was grey while you were there, you captured the feeling of "Grey Vancouver" very well. This is a fact of life in Vancouver and you should not be discouraged from photographing it. Your photo still gives a sense of movement in the clouds, telling us that weather is in a dynamic state.

I like most of your flower photographs with the stark white background. You really have controlled the lighting and exposure, or you are very good at post-processing. These are suitable for commercial use and that is a high compliment.

I like the Diego Garcia sunset, also. There is a nice element in the foreground that tells you where you are without competing with the colors of the sky and sunset.

I see some noise in a few of your sky scenes, suggesting that you are using a point and shoot camera, but the rest of the pictures seem of higher quality.
Reply:I'm sorry more didn't answer, but there are a LOT of photos there. I'm goin gto go back when I have some leisure time and enjoy them all. Report It
