Can I use Flickr photos for commercial use?

I've been looking for free pictures everywhere on the net and I'm thinking if I can use travel photos from Flickr on my website. Do you think I can do this?

Can I use Flickr photos for commercial use?
short answer: no.

However you can contact the photographer and ask them if they will give you permission. Keep in mind that these people should be credited at the very least and in reality they should be compensated for their work.

That said, you can see if there are travel related images on flickr that users have allowed unrestricted use by checking out Creative Commons. Some users have set up their images to be used for situations like yours

Reply:If you use the advanced search page in Flickr you can search for pictures that are licenced for commerical use. They use Creative Commons licences.

For an example of a Flickr picture used and credited see:

Reply:If it's a Creative Commons photo (cc) that *doesn't* say nc (non-commercial). As the other answerer mentioned, you can specify this in the advanced search.

Also see Wikimedia Commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org). All the photos there can be used commercially (except for the few ones that really shouldn't be there)
