It's annoying to have to sign up for a Yahoo account just to use Flickr. Yahoo has so many ridiculous ads. Thanks for making me go pro-GOOGLE.
Why isn't Flickr independent of Yahoo any more?
Flickr was bought by Yahoo -- that is why Yahoo closed down Yahoo Photos earlier this year.
Reply:Flickr, like Delicious, was bought by Yahoo, therefore you need an account on Yahoo.
I don't like Flickr so much because it has a limit 200 photos if you use it for free.
Reply:yahoo I think bought them
Reply:Like these people have already said, Yahoo bought Flickr, and kinda nerfed it, made it more retarded.
Some people use photobucket too.

Reply:It's true. Yahoo has announced that they are closing Y.Photos on September 20, 2007, so that they can concentrate on Flickr, an equivalent photo storage/sharing system. If you are looking for another online storage place for your pics, you might consider moving them to Flickr (a Yahoo! property), or to Snapfish, Photobucket, Kodak Gallery, or Shutterfly.

My photography on flickr?
I just made a pro account to keep all of my photos. I just got a K100D %26amp; that's all I've used in the 2008 album. I know 2006 %26amp; 2007 aren't of the best photos, but I really try %26amp; I've improved. I'm self taught and only just began taking a photojournalism class. If you have any tips let me know. I'm working on my technique %26amp; I have so many ideas, but it's hard to find some of the things I'd love to shoot around here, so I do my best with what I've got. I'm still young.

Reply:practice practice practice, get critiques, and practice some more... you have some really good shots, i like the cat the best (but then i'm a pushover when it comes to kitty pics).
and i think you have some really good shots of horses and such (the only ones i can get is when they have their heads down and are grazing... boring).
the lead for your 2006 set-- the lizard on the bricks-- great shot!
Reply:Good start.. You might want to sort out your pictures and only pick the ones you like best (from each motive).
Just keep doing what you're doing..
I've been shooting for years and I'm still learning..
I have a few pictures here if you're interested: http://www.lion.bz/photo/
Reply:they look good. especialy the ones from 2007. I like the building shots.
Reply:Just like Lion said, “Just keep doing what you're doing..” a few things you can do; first, if you haven’t done yet, read carefully the owners manual of the camera, also you can purchase or go to your local library and get books related to your camera. Second thing is for you to attend local camera clubs and go on field trips.
Good luck and keep on photographing.
Reply:I just looked at 2008
It is clear that you are bored.
Pictures of cats are incredibly boring except to their doting owners and I couldn't find anything else in 2008 that spoke to me about creativity. Based on what I assume is better, I didn't bother to look at 2007.
I guess that you need to get out more.
Don't you have any human friends? Family members? Much better subjects than a section of a chain-link fence!
It is a case of being creative but any old image will just not do. Anyone with a half-decent camera can produce colourful and sharp pictures but a photographer will produce images that demand attention. So far, nothing you have done demands attention.
Young? OK - so keep at it but you MUST think outside the box. The predictable just isn't doing the job at all.
Reply:I like them a lot your camera takes some clear pics!

Why doesn't my most current flickr photostream appear on my Yahoo! 360 page?
The only pics that show are the very first ones I uploaded to flickr back in August. I've added lots of photos since the first time I used flickr, but they don't update to my 360 page. Help!

Some times you have to go back and set the first ones to private and the new ones to public. Then you need to share them. And save,
But yahoo has some glitch with photos and avatars right now.
And both sites are busy with upgrading also
If you get no action in a few days, send in feed back from your 360

Can i save photos on Flickr to my computer for my own use? if so how?
What is Yahoo Flickr?
It's a photo hosting website.
Reply:i think so...isnt it FOR pictures?
Reply:Some Flickr users allow the download of their fotos for personal use. If so, they will let users know exactly about the different size pictures and how to download them.

360 FEATURE UPDATE: Did you know there was a solution to the Flickr photostream problem (new users)?
Dee gets all the credit for this EXCELLENT workaround (see her post here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... ) . It took a few days for it to show up after I followed her instructions AND contacting Flickr about the "no cookies enabled" glitch, but the photostream is now working on my 360 test page.
"Evidentally the glich has to do with your sign in name. If you use the same name to sign into your 360 and Flickr then it wont work. You can go to your account info in Flickr and change the name you use to sign in with (if you don't have another yahoo account it gives you the option to set one up) ... just use a different yahoo ID to sign in with. After you do that, you go to your 360 page hit the share photos button, then share flickr photo stream, and then "change user." Put in the yahoo ID that you use to sign into your flickr account with, and it will work."
Thank you again, Dee!

Thank you VERY much for getting the answer! It feels better to know what happened.

well instructed (easy to follow). Just post it in your blog if you want. There are all kinds of free photo sites you can use as a alternative to Flickr. Thanks dee for the info.
Reply:Hi Kee, Yes I'm aware of the happenings with Flicker ..but I have found a site called " Slide " it's very useful there are many ways to use this site .. you can create a guest book that your friends and family can sign , leave pic's and even leave utube video's .. then there's also a slide show, you can upload all of your favorite photos with music and you can edit it to any look you like .... I hope you find them as enjoyable as I http://www.slide.com/arrange? ps.. these are easily transfered to your 360 with just a click.

Am i the only one that enjoys posting racy pictures of myselfe on Flickr?
I only have one person who has access to them, but I love that she looks!
Is it strange to enjoy being a internet exhibitionist, when I am really shy in real life??

How can I sign on to my Yahoo Mail and Flickr accounts? Help!?
Over the last week or so, I have been having a hard time with signing on to the Yahoo account I've had for years. But it's not consistent - sometimes by noon or late at night it lets me in. This problem is also freezing me out of my Flickr account at the same times.
I've checked for viruses, deleted cookies, cleared cache and history. None of that seems to make any difference. When I slowly and accurately type in my info, it says "Invalid ID or password."
Sometimes after I re-input my info 10 or 15 times I can get in. But then I can't get to Flickr because it wants me to re-enter my password and I get "Invalid ID or password."
Is there a way to get from a signed-on Yahoo Mail account into your Flickr without having to go through the re-signon?
Or is abandoning Yahoo and Flickr the only choice?
How can I sign on to my Yahoo Mail and Flickr accounts? Help!?
Hi,
That is a popular problem especially during the last couple of days.
Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!
Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java’s listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail.
If not:
You will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!
I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.
NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.
Bottom paragraph: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdat...
I hope this helps you.

I cant view flickr photos...?
Every time i open flickr and open up a picture it comes out with a red x in the upper left hand corner. with no picture. Same thing with thumbnails any ideas?
I cant view flickr photos...?
It just could be whoever posted it didn't do it correctly, I've seen that before. Check and see if other people can view the same exact pics or check on a different computer. Or, your computer is blocking the pics. Check your firewall %26amp; security settings. Also, it could be your operating system doesn't support the photos either, but if you are prob using internet explorer %26amp; windows, so that shouldn't be the issue. Good luck.

It is probably a temporary glitch, either because many users are online or because of an update on Yahoo's end (this happens in 360 also). Try again later or if the problem persists you can get help here.

I want to align my flickr badge to the rightside of the main container on my blog.
At the moment it sits underneath the container.
I just don't have enough html ninja in me at the moment to figure this one out.

There is a Flickr associated site where you put in a word and it gives you associated words in circle? Where?
It looks like a wheel of related words. Found it once and forgot to bookmark it. And I've looked through many of the Flickr mashups, but to no avail. I'd appreciate your help.
There is a Flickr associated site where you put in a word and it gives you associated words in circle? Where?
flickr is now a part of Yahoo. Lot's of crap happening down there. You may go one on one with Yahoo and find the answer. They are the ones taking all this tech stuff out and turning it into their own product. Example being, Yahoo photos is closing shop this month and helping folks to move their photos to new locations, flickr being one of them. Sorry I could not answer you particular question. Good luck in finding out what happened.
Reply:I finally found the answer to my own question. The site is

Check it out -- its pretty cool. Report It
Reply:I'm a fan of bighugelabs.com's information, but there are a few different tag clouds out there. Check bighugelabs (aka fd's flickr toys) or the "Do more with your photos," link on Flickr. They love to put up a lot of external links to folks who have tinkered with their scripts. Odds are you'll find something there.
Sorry I can't be of more help- I can't get to Flickr from work to look. X(
Good luck! :)

I understood that Yahoo removed Yahoo! Photos - so why is this section still under Yahoo! Products, but no place to ask flickr questions?

Why did my flickr photostream cannot display on my 360 page?
How do I share photos with Yahoo! 360?
Yahoo! 360° is a separate service, but we do have some basic instructions to get you started.
If you're a new Yahoo! 360° user, go through the process to set up your page. When you're done, go to your My Page and click "Share Photos." You'll find a link to share images from your Flickr photostream.
Note: It may take several hours or longer for Yahoo! 360° to update your Flickr photos. Also, when you delete a photo from Flickr, it will show as unavailable on 360° until the content on your page is refreshed. If you're having trouble using 360° or if your Flickr photos aren't updating there, contact the 360° support team. (Choose the "Ask Other Yahoo! 360° Users" to start the contact process.)

Reply:Bottom line, the Flickr photostream is not working for many people. It's not updating at this time. Y!360 is working on the problem.
Make sure that you have done the following:
- Click on your 360 "My Page" link at the top
- Click on the "Share Photos" link in your Photos module on the right side
- Scroll down to the Flickr section and follow the instructions there. If you need to click "Change User" to update the stream with a different Flickr ID.
- Make sure that you select a group in the "Can be seen by:" dropdown before saving.
NOTE: The photos may not show up immediately (it can take 3 days in some cases). The photos must also be PUBLIC in Flickr FIRST. Make sure to check how other people view your page by clicking on the drop down menu "Preview as seen by" at the top right of your 360 "My Page". Choose a permission group and click the "Go" button.
If you've done above and it's not showing up after a week, click on your "Beta Feedback" link in the top right corner of your 360 space and send in a Help form on this Technical Problem. They may take a week to a month to respond (if at all), but they do read the messages to track 360-wide problems.
Lastly, there are other ways to display pictures in 360 like via the blog entry upload tool, drag and drop, a blog slideshow widget or RSS feeds. See my post here on that:

"Flickr" and the internet?
Just curious about something...I've noticed a few times when I've done an image search on Yahoo, that quite a few examples come up from the website "Flickr" (The photo-sharing site) Question...I've recently joined this site and downloaded some pics, adding all the appropiate tags for people to find my pics there...If I leave them on there long enough, will they eventually show up on Yahoo image searchs too? If so, how long does it usually take for the net to recognize these and add them to various searches?
As I've said, I'm just curious so, if anyone knows anything about "Flickr", I would appreciate the info.
(Also, will these show up on Google searches too?)
"Flickr" and the internet?
Since Yahoo owns flickr, they probably index that much quicker and have more flexibility to crawl through the site easily. Google will eventually index and even rank it higher if many people are linking to your flickr images as part of their own sites or blogs.

Flickr sucks, why?
Flickr has "Guidelines" that it treats as laws. What part of Guidelines' definition does Flickr management NOT UNDERSTAND?
From Wikipedia: "A guideline is any document that aims to streamline particular processes according to a set routine. By definition, following a guideline is never mandatory (protocol would be a better term for a mandatory procedure)."
Flickr sucks, why?
Why make a fuss about interpretation. Those guidelines are for your protection as well as everyone else's. Think of them as morals. Morals were the origin of laws, so we are not that far removed are we?
Guidelines are laws we impose ourselves; i.e. self-moderation. Take it away and Yahoo has to employ 10s of 1000s of moderators and then we would all have to pay a fortune for it.
Guidelines therefore become the laws of reason.
Reply:excuse me....Rj...who is flickr???

I've uploaded photos to FLICKR, now what?
I saw that I am unable to upload photos via Yahoo! so it gave me a link to "FLICKR." My photos are now on Flickr but I need assistance in getting it over to my Y! 360* ! Please help. :) Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: See #1 for getting the photos to appear in your top right corner (i.e. the Photos module in your Top Page). The photos must be PUBLIC in Flickr to show up in your 360.
There are three ways:
1) You can set up a Flickr photostream on your "Top Page" in 360.
- Click on your 360 "My Page" link at the top
- Click on the "Share Photos" link in your Photos module on the right side
- Scroll down to the Flickr section and follow the instructions there. Note: The photos may not show up immediately.
2) Check out the 360 team post on dragging %26amp; dropping photos into blogs: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-1qCkw2Eha...
* This method allows many photos to be used in an entry, with your choice in placement
3) Copy and paste an absolute URL from Flickr to also get a picture in your blog (which looks http://www.domainname.com/nameoffile.gif or .jpg....something similar to that).
- Check the box next "View HTML source" box (on the upper right of your entry's space).
- Type in the HTML code:
%26lt;img src="URL of image" height="# of pixels" width="# of pixels"%26gt;
- Uncheck the "View HTML source" box to get back to the regular blog screen.
WARNING: Do not save your entry with out adding some text.
- Click "Save"
* This method allows you to use any formatted image as long as it's hosted on an online server and not your hard drive.

About move of photos to flickr?
Ok this morning i ordered or requested the photos move to flickr....its been more than 12 hous since then an i havent got an email confirming my move is started or qued up...im kinda nervious now...
1- I read on yahoo faqs about it first and they said i was to get an email that my move has been orderd and anotehr after that when the move is completed. all went accordingly so far cept that i didnt get the email about the move requst or beganing...which has got me a bit nervious now i will wait a while see if it works any way but in case something should go wrong who should i contact yahoo or flickr and what might the addresses be to where i can complain..pictures that i am moving are important to me.
2- i deffinately have more than 150 pictures i think maybe near 200 or more does that mean that if theres more than 200 they will be lost?
About move of photos to flickr?
There is a 200 picture limit with the free Flickr account, so if you have more than 200 from what I understand you have to buy a pro account to see them all.
Here's the official Flickr Topic on the migration.

Reply:Nope they wont be lost but you wont be able to veiw them unless you pay for an upgraded membership. And also there are a lot of people choosing where they want their photos moved right now so be patient, you should get you email soon.
Hope this helps

Reply:I too have many pics on Yphotos, prolly at least 100. Mine took a couple days to complete the transfer.. however, im a little upset, cos now Ymessenger still only gives you the option to add pics to Yphotos, not to flickr, or w/e service you choose. It was so easy before to share and save pics on messenger. does anyone know if Messenger will be giving the options to save pics directly to flickr?
p.s., once ur account has migrated and locked, dont make the mistake I did, and continue saving pics to Yphotos, they'll be lost. ( i just thought they would be migrated as well as the others, but they've never turned up )
yahoo always has to go and make things difficult :/

I can´t share fotos on Yahoo 360 with flickr?
I have a Yahoo-Id dachung2k3, i log into flickr with my ID dachung2k3, but no fotos are showed up on my 360 Page.
My fotos are public. You can see it here http://www.flickr.com/photos/32286675@N0...
But when i click on " share fotos" on my 360 Page, under "Can be seen by: Pulic" at Flickr is written "(You currently have no public photos in Flickr.) " .
I have also clicked on " change user" and set it to Yahoo-ID "dachung2k3".
What should i do?
Thanks so much for your help...
I can´t share fotos on Yahoo 360 with flickr?
Give it a day or two-the system is swamped with all the new users and it's been taking awhile for them to get the 360 photos updated. Double check that you are following the steps below, and if you are, then you've done everything correctly and it's just a waiting game right now!
log in to 360, go to My Page
Scroll to the right until you see the Photos box.
Click on Share Photos.
Now-here is the part i am unsure of because i already have my flickr photos attatched to my 360-but if i remember correctly-it should already have a section that says Flickr.
So scroll down until you see that Flickr section-and change the settings to Share or follow the instructions located there. Scroll down some more and click Save when you are finished.
Reply:this is not surprising.. flickr is crap! use photobucket they are great!

Does anyone knows what is flickr stand for? and what do the gamma word at the logo means? will it be change to alpha or something else oneday?
What does 'flickr' stand for?
It's been in gamma for a while. Eventually they will release a full version.
As for the name "Flickr". It's just a name. I don't think it means anything.

Photobucket vs Flickr?
What's the difference between Photobucket and Flickr? What are their pros and cons, and which one is better?
Photobucket vs Flickr?
I prefer Photobucket, it keeps the pics more organized, and it keeps their size as it is, but Flickr i think it kinda resize the photos into smaller size and it's complicated to view it to the same size.
any way i'm not comfortable with flickr .. I prefer Photobucket it is more handy !

How do I put a Flickr album from a different Yahoo account on to my Yahoo 360 page?
At present my shared photos relates directly to my FLICKR account of the same name but I have an additional FLICKR account and I only want those photos showing on my 360 page. Is this possible?
How do I put a Flickr album from a different Yahoo account on to my Yahoo 360 page?
You can merge the two accounts to one. Click where they say get pictures. The you just click to share ,primary and save,Or you can show all your albums with different titles and this will show up on the top of this album for people to click on to see all of them.Yahoo is doing away with their own photo site and merging to Flickr
Reply:You can try to transfer the association of one account to another:
http://www.flickr.com/account/transfer/ and/or
http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/35119/?... and
NOTE: If you have two accounts, your Flickr accounts will be treated separately as they are now. You can choose to associate one, both, or neither with a Yahoo! ID, but each Flickr account must be merged with a different Yahoo! ID.
Then, maybe you go back to 360 and fiddle with the Photo module settings.
I'm not sure if transfer or merge are the same thing, but you can check out both options on the Flickr website.

Yahoo photos is closing, and Flickr is Blocked. What to do!!!?
I live in the UAE. and its a common knowledge (to locals) that Flickr is blocked for 'religious and cultural purposes'. And i want to put pics on my 360 page. BIG dilemma!!
I have my pictures on http://www.kodakgallery.com , and i was wondering if I could use that album directly from yahoo instead of Flickr... or do i have to add a link in my blog or something.
not much trouble. But it takes away the neat setup provided by yahoo. If anyone knows of a help file or tutorial on how to do this, please link.
And if some other photosharing website can do it, let me know(with link) so i'll transfer my photos there.
Well.. not really photos... my art.
Anyway
Thanks a lot

Flickr does not work!! Flickr and Yahoo Photos have too many bugs to have any confidence in them!
Get a free photo editor from google.. called Picasa .. if you have a gmail account you can also get a web album site with an rss of your very own and put it into the section in your profile for your home page.. it will pull up your albums you have uploaded and there is never a problem.. the photo editor is free and it used to cost a hundred dollars for the same software around 3 years ago!
Just go to the google home page.. click onto the more option and then even more.. and look in the list there for the Picasa downloads.. then just follow the instructions.. it is not an intrusive program and it is really a very good simple editor..
Reply:If you really want to try to use your photos module in 360:
The photostream (Flickr) is something totally different from Yahoo! Photos. Once you transfer, your Yahoo Photos access is closed. Since Flickr does work for many people, please post a link to your 360 page (make sure that the photostream is Public on 360) so that we can see what you're talking about or send your URL to me via e-mail (click on my avatar and click on my e-mail link).

Photo Bucket? Flickr?(please help quickly if at all possible)?
I need this help rather quickly :\ but i need to know how big of videos you can upload with photobucket? and Flickr....what is it? and if the above applies and you know please share-thanks so much if you know!
Photo Bucket? Flickr?(please help quickly if at all possible)?
When you try to upload a video onto Photobucket, it tells you 'max video size' above the upload box. It is:
Max video size: 5 minutes, 100 MB.
You can't upload videos on Flickr. It's a photo sharing site, where people can see and comment on your photos, and you can share your photography with your friends and family!. =)
Reply:Flickr is a photo sharing site only, no video, as for video size limits on Photobucket, you should read through their FAQs. They provide all the information you need on their sites, just go take a look at them...
Also post your pictures to photobucket if you'd like to drop them into emails, or blogs. Use Flickr to show the world, friends and family the photos you've taken, also use Flickr if you want to make stamps, albums, or prints of your pictures that you took with your digital camera.

How do Ii move my Yahoo! Photos to my Flickr account when Yahoo! Photos is closing?
When I go to the help page of Yahoo! Photos, it tells me to go to http://closing.photos.yahoo.com, but when i go there, all it says is
We're sorry. Yahoo! Photos is closing on September 20, 2007 so we are no longer accepting new accounts or allowing users to upload photos if you don't already have photos in your account. We've decided to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award winning photo sharing community that Time Magazine has even called "completely addictive". Why not head over to Flickr for a look?
That doesnt help me, because i cant move my photos by going to Flickr, and when i go to Flickr help, it tells me to do the same thing. Do you have any suggestions?
How do Ii move my Yahoo! Photos to my Flickr account when Yahoo! Photos is closing?
Sign In to your Yahoo! Photos and you are in the page of Yahoo! Photos – Closing – see in the upper right corner: Take Me to My Photos
My Advice: You download your favourite photos back to your computer – for back up – before moving your photos to another services – since there are so many Yahoo! Photo users not successful in moving there photos - they have encountered loads of problems – like photos are lost.
I’m not aware if you can download Yahoo! Photos to hard drive same way as uploading it – I have to download all my photos one by one - Right Click on the picture then Save Picture As
Flickr is not totally free – unlike the Yahoo Photos.
Free Account – is limited:
• 100 MB monthly upload limit (5MB per photo)
• 3 sets
• Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images
• Post any of your photos in up to 10 group pools
• Only smaller (resized) images accessible (though the originals are saved in case you upgrade later)
It will cost you – US$24.95 a year to upgrade to a Pro Account:
• Unlimited uploads (10MB per photo)
• Unlimited storage
• Unlimited bandwidth
• Unlimited photosets
• Archiving of high-resolution original images
• The ability to replace a photo
• Post any of your photos in up to 60 group pools
• Ad-free browsing and sharing

What IS Flickr anyway? Obviously it has something to do with photos; I don't want to lose mine in Y! Photos
My only experience is to send photos to Yahoo photos. That's IT. Please start from the beginning regarding Flickr. Recommend free options for beginners. Signed, Photo Idiot.
What IS Flickr anyway? Obviously it has something to do with photos; I don't want to lose mine in Y! Photos
it's just a website off of yahoo that you can upload photos to. you can make them private for only yourself to see, available for only your contacts (friends you invite) to see, or public which is available for everyone to see and search. you can search other people's photos too. there's groups on there where you can enter your pictures for others to see, or for contests.
im not really sure what else you want to know, so i dont know if that helped.
Reply:when you logged into flickr you'll be able to upload all your photo's just like yahoo.but you can still put them in albums.
you can go to there website and get more info on it
www.flickr.com
you can also use photobucket also
www.photobucket,com
i know this isn't much info but you can check these sites out
and they can tell you more about it or someone else with more knowledge than me can tell you.
Reply:You can go to http://flickr.com and see what it's like before you migrate your photos there. The free account allows you to display 200 photos and you have a limit of how much you can upload each month. When you go over 200, they start hiding the older ones and then they hope you upgrade to a paid account.
Reply:as far as i knew flickr was a horse ... i am not up2date with flickr the proggie, but i can tell you this .. BEFORE YOU TRANSFER YOUR PHOTOS MAKE SURE YOUR PRIMARY / ALTERNATE EMAIL IS UP2DATE on the profile account where your pics are kept as this is where the confirmation email will go after your transfer.

I agreed to transfer my photos to Flickr, but only some of them transferrred. Where are the missing photos?
Only a portion of the photos that I had at Yahoo Photos made it to the Flickr account. I even signed up for the expensive Pro service so as to not have a problem. There does not seem to be anyone to ask about this. Where are the photos and why are they not on the Flickr account. I already to not like the Flickr account either. You have to upload photos individually, not as a file as before. Or am I missing something? Any suggestions or answers welcomed.

I never put photos online that I don't keep backups on either hard drive or CD, because this kind of thing happens so often. I wish I had something to tell you, but there is supposed to be a Help link or support service.

They don't have a Flickr link on the Yahoo homepage right now. You just go to http://flickr.com and log in with your Yahoo ID and password.

Deleted my Flickr account. How do I get the photostream off my 360 page?
I couldnt get the photostream to update no matter what I tried so I moved all my photos and deleted my flickr account. Now the photostream ( which included 2 PRIVATE photo's) is STUCK on my 360 page.
Deleted my Flickr account. How do I get the photostream off my 360 page?
It takes a couple days...but in the meantime people will see a blank page or a message that the account longer exists.
You could have just made the 2 pics private for no one to see instead of deleting the whole thing.

Apart from Flickr & Picasa, what other sites would you suggest for photo upload and sharing lots of pics?
Cos Flickr and Picasa Web Albums both have limits to how much you upload. How about lots and lots of photos?

http://www.zooomr.com is free, unlimited photos sharing. And yes, there are 3 O's. Zooomr is currently a young beta site, so things will work some days and not the next, plus Zooomr doesn't have all the bells and whistles that other sites have. Zooomr does have a built in uploader on the site that is awesome. Zooomr has a bunch of cool features that you will not find on any other site, things like Smart Sets, were the sets (albums) are live, and will change based on things like TAG names, or the date the photo was taken. Also they have Portals, which is awesome. They do not have a way to delete photos in bulk, or actually at all, once you upload a photo it is always there. Also, the only person that can see the original size is the owner of the photo, friends can only see a medium size photo. But Zooomr is really good for being free and I think it is just on the edge of being a viable photo sharing site. I would switch to Zooomr in a heartbeat, if only Zooomr had just a few more things, like a bulk tagging tool, or a bulk delete tool, and if they had a way to share original sizes with others.
Many other photo sharing sites are unlimited if you pay something. There are so many photo sharing sites, that it comes down to what your personal preferences are and what site matches those criteria the best.

Facebook is the best. Unlimited free photo storage with good functionality. However, one downside is that your photos are not uploaded in full size. Therefore, when you share it on facebook, no one can get full size image from facebook. You can download facebook albums with firefox extensions. You can do a lot of privacy setting with facebook. You can share photos and/or album with a link.
OR
If you have good website editing skills, have time and have special requests that facebook and many others can't offer for free, you can host your own website with coppermine. You can shape it to the way you want. It is about software freedom, and you are not restricted by any companies by using this method.
For the second question, if you keep a copy of photos for yourself that copy this always yours to keep. I consider putting photos on internet.
Good luck.

360 and flickr - Why does 360 not update?
I have posted this question in many forms and forums. It has been a few months now that I have added a great number of photos to flickr. My Yahoo 360 has the last six showing on my top page. Oops! No it doesn't. It shows some very old pictures I chose to get rid of because I didn't want to spend another month looking at them on my page. Now there is only the message there that they were deleted. This is no fun. Yahoo has been working the problem for months and frustrated too.
This quest has become indefinite.
360 and flickr - Why does 360 not update?
I post pictures I want in my 360 via slide.com which enables a slide show to be posted direct to my 360 blog page. I don't bother with flickr.

How does flickr know my pictures are taken with my n95?
I have recently put some pictures on flickr, and i looked at them and at the side it says that they were taken with a Nokia N95, which they were, but how did it know?
How does flickr know my pictures are taken with my n95?
Flickr's just clever like that!
Reply:My camera even shows what hour, minute and second that the picture was taken.
Reply:Flickr interprets the Exif data embedded in each photo with it present and uses it to display the camera make and model, date and time it was taken, camera settings, and even where if it contains geographical information (with use of a GPS unit).
Learn more about the Exif specification here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exif
Reply:The data is embedded into the files.
Reply:Some high end cameras even go so far as to embed the serial number of the camera into the image data, this helps if you ever need to prove the image is yours.
Reply:All digital image files store information on the camera, including the make, model and sometimes things like f/stop, shutter speed, flash on/off, ISO, etc.
Mine even stores my copyright notice in an Image Comment.
Reply:All raw digital image files contain encoded information about the picture. When you upload your images to Flickr it stores that information too, including when it was taken, what aperture you used, what ISO etc. You can view some of the information yourself in Photoshop under File Info.
Reply:its programed in the website and nice camera i have a nikon 40 i love to take pictures hope to become a photographer but ya it should be programed in the website to do that

Transfer to Flickr Didn't Happen?
Several weeks ago, I filled in the necessary info from the Yahoo page indicating that everything is moving to Flickr. It said I'd receive an email, which I didn't, and my photos are still there on Yahoo's photo pages.
Should I do the whole thing again, or still keep waiting?
Transfer to Flickr Didn't Happen?
I'd try again. You should definitely get the emails and it shouldn't take weeks. Once it goes through correctly it will lock your Yahoo (photos) account.
Reply:Christina is correct. Once the process "officially" starts, you won't be able to even access your Yahoo Photos again -- it will say "Locked for migration". The fact that you did not get that message means that for some reason, they never truly got your first request.

FROM FLICKR TO 360 PAGE .
Cant transfer my pictures from flickr to my yahoo 306 Page got all of them in flickr .?
You want to display the photostream? If so, go to 360. Click Share Photos. Follow the instructions for setting up display of the photostream. It may or may not work, I know a lot of people have had trouble with this.

Wat is flickr like and why yahoo photo's is closing ?
Flickr is like a open photo gallery of any person who registered to Flickr.Anyone having yahoo account can use yahoo ID to log in to Flickr. And yahoo photo is closing because before flickr no on line photo gallery is comparable so yahoo buy it and became flickr owner.
Reply:Flickr is like Orkut in Google (except in Google, most stuffs are unlimited)...hopefully, soon they will make Flickr unlimited

That's it.
Reply:yahoo has something to do with flickr also..so they are going to just focus on flickr for now
Reply:Flickr is a good photo sharing site. It is positioned to become the top photo site if it is not already.
Since Yahoo owns both I think they just wanted to consolidate with Flickr.

Problems accessing Flickr on my Mac?
I am having issues accessing Flickr using Firefox version 2.0.0.9 (and Safari Version 2.0.4) on my Mac (MacBook Pro running Mac OS X version 10.4.10).
I'm pretty sure it's not my firewall (not 100% sure though). Could it be anything else?
Problems accessing Flickr on my Mac?
check the firewall... but can you get to some other websites?
make sure you can get on all of them from all the different networks... it could possibly be the network
Check here for more info and help me out by checking some of the ads.

How can I change my flickr pictures on my 360 page?
Flickr or Yahoo picked the pics to share on my photostream and I can't figure out how to change them. I even deleted one pic from Flickr and its still on my 360 page.
How can I change my flickr pictures on my 360 page?
I just answered a similar question. I remember when I first put my pictures on my 360 page from flickr, it took a day or two before they posted. I am thinking that maybe it's something similar in reverse? Maybe it takes a day or two for the 360 page to realize flickr has updated? We are so used to things happening instantaneously that when it doesn't it throws us.
Just my guess, but if you made the deletion today, I bet it updates the 360 page by tomorrow or the next at the latest.

How does flickr work.?
Everytime I do some sort of Yahoo Image search, I get a lot of pictures from flickr. Is it something like Facebook, My Space, etc?
How does flickr work.?
As 'David D', pointed out, Flickr is a more sophisticated network, of where you share photos, and people rate them, using it like 'face book', could, if not will, make you unpopular, it is a greate website for photo sharing, but it is taken very seriously by some people.
Reply:read the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flickr
Reply:Flickr does have some social networking features, but the focus is photos; relationships are secondary (whereas Facebook et al tend to be all about relationships and throwing silly rubbish around).
Reply:flickr is about photos basically but in groups it is very intersting to hang out with friends compete in competitions etc. its really good
Reply:flickr is site where you can upload u r own photos show u r photographic talent and share ur photos with ur friends

How do I share my photostream from flickr on my yahoo 360 page?
Hello everyone! My concern is that since Yahoo Photos is closing down as of today, ( 09/20/07 ) how will I be able to share my photos from my flickr account? I understand that Yahoo will be uploading / transferring photos to Flickr as private however, I have uploaded several photos to flickr and made many of them public but I still can't figure out why they won't show up in a photostream on my Yahoo 360 page. What am I doing wrong? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How does Flickr! determine the interestingness of a picture?
You know how you can view your pictures as ranked by interestingness? I can't find any place on Flickr! that explains how the site determines this quality. There doesn't seem to be a precise correlation with number of views, number of comments, or number of times it has been favorited.
Anyone have a clue?
How does Flickr! determine the interestingness of a picture?
They use a (secret?) algorithm for that. It's also used to determine if a picture will appear on their explore page which show every day 500 pictures. Besides numbers of views, comments, favorites it is also in correlation with the number of groups it is posted by the photographer. The more groups, the less interestingness.
Go to their help page and type in "explorer" or "interestingness", many people wonder about this thing and nobody seems to really know how it is done.

Can I link my group with a flickr account?
I am the moderator of a group for my high school class. We also have a flickr account set up for our class (both using the same email address) where people have posted pictures from our class reunion. Is there a way to connect the group with the flickr account so people can easily move from one to the other? I has assumed since I login to flickr with my yahoo account, that there would be some connectivity between the two--but I can't find any yet. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Can I link my group with a flickr account?
The easiest way to do this is to add a URL to the Flickr account in the Yahoo Group. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way to link a Yahoo Group's photos to an external Flickr account.

Can anyone tell me how to email Flickr I cannot access it even though I have allowed site in my web browser?
I have received an email saying my switch to Flickr has been successful but I cannot log in. I have tried both Internet Explorer and Mozilla but cannot access with either, even though I have added the Flickr site to my allowed websites. I have cleared my cookies and my temporary internet files and re-started my browser session. I cannot find any way of emailing Flickr for help. Has anyone had this problem and sorted it please.

Copyright on flickr?
Can I download and use photos off flickr without getting in trouble if I change them and upload them again?
Copyright on flickr?
No I think that is against the TOS, and how would you feel if someone used a picture that you'd worked hard on and then claimed it as their own?

How do I my photos from Yahoo!Photos to Flickr?
I heard that Yahoo!Photos is shutting down and I would like to transfer my Yahoo Photos to Flickr.
Please advise where I find the link to do that.
I could not find any links to do this either on Yahoo Photos or Flickr.
I understand that transferring from Yahoo Photos also gives me a complimetary 3 month Flickr Pro usage free.
Please confirm if that is correct. I would like to use the 3 month free trial period when switching over my photos to Flickr from Yahoo!Photos.
Thank You.

How do I my photos from Yahoo!Photos to Flickr?
Welll, that's what it says in news releases. Anyway, the transfer utility program isn't ready yet, so you can't really go anywhere at the moment. Apparently, in 1-2 months, Yahoo will start sending out notices to all YPhotos members telling them how to transfer their stuff. Meantime, just use the service as usual, and maybe browse through Flickr to get familiar with it.
Here's one of the news blurbs:
Yahoo Photos will be shut down by the fall. Users will be directed over a three-month period to transfer their images to Flickr or other photo sites such as Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery, Snapfish or Photobucket. Yahoo says it will make the transition easy, with a one-click transfer process.
Reply:I have searched everywhere I could and have not found a way either yet. On Yahoo photos, yahoo has this message:
===========
Move your photos: Select from among the photo sharing services offered (Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, and Photobucket) and they will move the photos for you. You’ll need to verify your Yahoo! account information and either create a new account or login with an existing account at that other service, but beyond that they’ll take care of the rest.
========
But when I go to flickr, there is no mention of how do I do this. Also, on yahoo photos, they have this button with contact customer support and instead of opening up the email, it opens up another help page which is of no use to me.
===
I guess they are not ready yet. Probably, starting in June, these services will be ready to take in photos from Yahoo
Please advise where I find the link to do that.

I've been waiting a few weeks. Just wondering how long others have taken for their photos to transfer to the Flickr site ?
Yahoo to Flickr. How long does it take to transfer the pics ?
It only took them 3 days to transfer mine but I didn't have a lot of pics, only 30. Have you had an email from them regarding this? They sent me one saying they were starting the transfer then, I received another confirming transfer.

I don't have many pictures, but I want them. This is irritating.

That's just the way it is on 360. To view the rest of your photos, people can click and view your entire photostream. Don't worry about it too much, 360 will be gone next year anyway and a new profile will take its place.

Help with Flickr plz?
I moved all the pictures from Yahoo360 to my Flickr account but now they're all displayed as "private". There's a lot of them so i can't possibly change the setting for each. I also tried changing the default setting they had there but seems like it's only applied to photos that i'll be uploading from now on... Does anyone know wot i could do to make them all "public"?
Help with Flickr plz?
With flickr , you can stream your photos into yahoo 360, so if you had Yahoo photos , you could have asked them to move them to flickr and -well whatever you did is done-lol

What Makes Flickr so unique? Whats all the fuss about?
I have always utilized Ofoto among other popular sites. What makes Flickr so unique?
What Makes Flickr so unique? Whats all the fuss about?
No ads, pop ups or banners. It's a clean, easy to manipulate interface and it's a very popular site. There is no need to register to just browse or if someone sends you a link of their pictures, you don't need to register for that either (which I HATE doing with sites like Kodak, Snapfish, etc.). Oh yes, and it's free.
Reply:Thats the best software for photo sharing on the net and also the most popular.
Reply:Here is PC Magazine's answer to your question:
"There are plenty of photo-sharing services, but Flickr (www.flickr.com) is photo-sharing for the digerati. Like smugmug or Shutterfly, Flickr is a Web service that lets you share photos among friends and family. But it cultivates a lively, informal atmosphere—similar to what you'll find in the world of blogging and Internet discussion groups. And unlike smugmug or Shutterfly, it creates a kind of online community, a place where you can you interact with photo-sharers you don't know along with those you do.
With Flickr, friends, family, and even strangers can become participants in the creation of your online photo collection. Once you upload photos to the site, you can easily tag them with keywords so they're readily searchable, or add notes and annotations that pop up when you mouse over images. You can also invite others—even strangers—to tag and annotate your photos. Granted, this sort of thing isn't for everyone, but the hip Net set may find that it's just what they're looking for."

How can I get on Flickr in the UAE? Will AOL work?
The censorship bastards here in the UAE, which is otherwise a nice place, have blocked Flickr, so I can't post my cool travel photos, which really sucks. What are my options? All standard proxies like The Cloak are also blocked here, so I need to figure out something...if I get a paid AOL account and surf through them, would that allow me to bypass the filters and blocks here to get to Flickr? Thanks!

Photos lost from Yahoo to flickr?
I requested my photos to be moved from Yahoo photos to flickr as Yahoo is closing. However all photos are lost except two. Yahoo has closed my photo account and flickr has only 2 photos. How can i recover the rest important photos?
Photos lost from Yahoo to flickr?
I thought I was missing photos, but I realized that Yahoo actually put my photos into my photostream using the metadata attached to the photo.
Basically, if your pic was taken in 2000, go to Archives in your Flickr account and check the timeline. They should be there.
Also, I noticed that the folders I had on Yahoo Photos were made into sets and put at the BOTTOM of my set page, instead of the top, like Flickr does when you upload photos.
Hope this helps!
Reply:I don't have the answer, but had the same thing happen. Are the photos floating around in the ethernet somewhere??

I just posted fotos to flickr then inadvertenly opened 2nd acc't. Now cant find 1st acc't. Help pls & thx
When trying to access my recently created flickr fotos, the screen indicated a sign in problem and that I had to either merge accounts or start a new one. The merge didn't work for some reason so I created new acc't. Now I can't find how to access my original account with the fotos I posted. I don't want the 2nd account but it pops up when I access flickr. Thanks for any helpful suggestions, as I can't find anything in the "help" links. Cheers.

Help with Flickr Photos?
Ok so I recently switched my photos over to flickr because Yahoo Photos was shutting down.. They allowed me to have a few months free of FlickrPro since I chose them. I now received an email saying that their giving me one more month of Pro. Now what I need help in understanding, is what is my limits to the amount of photos saved? I have over 500 pictures on here and I don't understand if I'm limited on the amount of space I'm using or the amount of photos I upload at once with a free account.
Please help me on this one, I need to know so I can get going on transfering my photos..

The link in the source window will take you to one of the flickr FAQ pages. It also gives information on limits concerning file size %26amp; types etc.
At any rate, the information in question has been copied directly from their site.
Is there a limit on the number of photos I can have?
"No, there's no limit to the number of photos you can have. But if you have a free account, you'll only see the most recent 200 photos displayed.
With a free account, you can upload up to 100MB per month. You can see how much you've uploaded on the upload page.
If you upgrade to a Pro account, all the photos you add to Flickr will always be available to your friends and family."
Reply:well i have a free acount, and basically after you have uploaded 200 photos, you recive a message that sais, on a free account you can only view 200 photos, this means that flick hides the ones that are over but keeps theme, the only way to see theme again on flick is to delete other photos, or go pro
so basicaulay when you go to a free account all of your 300 out of 500 photos will disapper, but they wont be deleted
