Is flickr move a scam ?

I just moved my 1500+ photos from yahoo photo to Flick.

It was easy - it worked. Unlike some other posts all my photos are there.

Beforehand i had a quick look that flickr had what I needed.

Now I got an email saying I was "given" pro status for a limited period. As I read what this means it seems most of the features (my huge number of sets and photos) are not available if i do not pay for pro. So I went from a free service to a pay service.

Do others have opinons ? Are any of the other alternatives truely free like Kodak ?

I need multiple folders (sets) and obviously thousands fo photos ..

Is flickr move a scam ?
Shutterfly is free except for things you buy (prints, etc).
Reply:I don't know whether I'd call it a scam, but I think our options are pretty crappy. And as usual the Y! migration is incredibly poorly planned. I'm really pissed off. I realize I didn't pay for Y!Photos, but I spent a lot of time over the years uploading, organizing, setting options and tagging all of my photos over the years and I certainly don't want to move to a service that charges me now. But there are so many quirks, details and differences between each of the services Y! is offering to move my photos to and there's no easy comparison chart to make an informed decision. And there's no guarantee my photos will survive the migration. I hate the fact that once you choose a new service that you're locked out of Y!Photos - so if something happens or goes wrong, you have no way of going back and trying again. I'm sure this is to prevent people from migrating to every service, which is exactly what I'd like to do, since until I move my photos, I have no idea what I'll find on the other side - and I'd like the option to explore the services after my photos are moved over and be able to cancel the services I feel don't meet my needs. I feel like my photos are being held hostage right now. And if we have the option to PURCHASE a disk, why couldn't Y! have created some kind of script to let us download all of our photos to a nice uploadable file? I'm not concerned with downloading my photos, they're all on my computer, but as everyone knows, uploading 1000s of photos would be quite a task and incredibly time consuming - uploading a camera full at a time is bad enough. I think this whole thing stinks.
